Alberto Porta

Alberto Porta (also Albert Porta i Muñoz ; * 1946 in Barcelona ) is a Spanish -American painter , multimedia and computer artist who is known under the pseudonyms "Zush" and "Evru".

Life

Alberto Porta was born in Barcelona in Catalonia in 1946 . He is self-taught as a painter and draftsman . In 1975 he received a scholarship from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge , where he studied holography .

Alberto Porta has worked in New York City and Madrid since 1986 .

Pseudonyms

Alberto Porta created two different identities. Zush, a "psycho-manual-digital artist" and Evru, a "scientific-mystical artist".

Zush (1968 to 2001)

Under the pseudonym Zush , Alberto Porta invented a parallel state, the Evrugo Mental State, with its own currency (Tucares), passport, national anthem, flag and alphabet (Asura).

Evru (2001 to date)

Alberto Porta has been exhibiting under the name Evru since 2001 . Alternatively, the name Zush-Evru is used. His work is diverse. It ranges between a very personal, to the surrealism referential iconography to a form of Cyborg - aesthetics . From traditional works on paper, canvas and wood, it leads to large-format digital photos and innovative digital works in the field of computer-aided design ( CAD ). Tecura , a computer program for digital painting that users can participate in, was developed by Evru .

Exhibitions

He took part in international exhibitions such as Documenta 6 in Kassel (1977), New Pictures from Spain (1980) in the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum New York and Les magiciens de la terre (1989), Center Georges Pompidou in Paris .
