Anna Louise Albrecht , in her mid-fifties, has just passed her medical exam and is supposed to succeed the country doctor in Auberg am See, a fictional community on the Tegernsee. Little does Anna suspect that the property has already been given away to the internist Stefan Wolf , who is planning a modern wellness clinic there. But the gentlemen did the math without Anna ...
The film was shot at Tegernsee and in Munich . Directed by Karsten Wichniarz by scripts from Michael Baier .

Two doctors are one too many was originally intended as a single feature film that was broadcast as part of the ZDF Sunday film. Due to the positive response from viewers (over seven million viewers saw the first part in November 2006), the ZDF decided to continue the series on Wednesdays. From May to October 2007 3 episodes were shot.
The second part saw on January 30, 2008 7.56 million viewers. With that he took first place with a market share of 22.8%.

During the shooting of the episode The Treasure in Silbersee , an extra drowned in Tegernsee after the canoe in which he was sitting with two other extras capsized due to a helicopter downdraft. In the criminal proceedings, the helicopter pilot was sentenced to a fine for negligent homicide, and the proceedings against two employees of the production company, who were also accused, were dropped. The son of the deceased extra has announced that he will sue the management of the production company because of his father's accidental death.
