The twin-tailed lesser buck ( Stenurella bifasciata , Syn . : Strangalia bifasciata ) is a species from the longhorn beetle family (Cerambycidae).

features

The beetle becomes seven to ten millimeters long. The head, pronotum and legs are colored black. The pronotum is weakly dotted and hairy , like the winged wings . These are yellow-brown in the male and red in the female. The suture of the wing cover and the tip are colored black, in addition there is a black, heart-shaped band a little towards the middle, which can sometimes be reduced, especially in the male. The last three abdominal segments are usually red, but darkened in atypically colored specimens or completely black in females. It happens that the black areas on the upper wings are completely absent. The eleventh (last) antenna segment is longer than the tenth.

Occurrence

The two-tailed narrowbuck is a species of the southern Palearctic . It occurs from southern and central Europe via Asia Minor, Syria, Armenia and the Caucasus to Siberia and Mongolia. In Germany it is a relatively warmth-loving species, which is rare or absent, especially in northern Germany and in higher mountains. The species is also absent in Northern Europe and the British Isles. It inhabits mainly temperature-favored meadows and southern slopes in foothills and valleys.

Way of life

The larva develops in branches of deciduous trees and roses, less often in pines. The adults can be found from June to September on sun-exposed meadows, especially on dry southern slopes. There you can visit the flowers of umbellifers , man litter , yarrow , blackberries or other rose plants .
