Henry Walter Livingston (* 1768 in Linlithgo , New York Province; † December 22, 1810 in Linlithgo, New York ) was an American lawyer and politician . Between 1803 and 1807 he represented New York State in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Henry Walter Livingston, son of Walter Livingston (1740–1797), grew up during the British colonial era. In 1786 he graduated from Yale College . He studied law , got his lawyer license, and then began practicing in New York City . Between 1792 and 1794 he was the private secretary of Governor Morris , who was then Minister Plenipotentiary in Paris ( First French Republic ). Livingston was a judge on the Court of Common Pleas in Columbia County . He was a member of the New York State Assembly in 1802 and 1810 . Politically he belonged to the Federalist Party . In the 1802 congressional elections for the 8th Congress , Livingston was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the eighth constituency of New York , where he succeeded Killian Van Rensselaer on March 4, 1803 . He was re-elected once and then dropped out after the March 3, 1807 Congress of. He died on December 22nd, 1810 near Linlithgo.
