John M. Mitchell

John Murry Mitchell (born March 18, 1858 in New York City , † May 31, 1905 in Tuxedo Park , New York ) was an American lawyer and politician . Between 1896 and 1899 he represented New York State in the US House of Representatives .

Career

John Murry Mitchell was born and raised in New York City about three years before the outbreak of the Civil War . During this time he attended Leggett's School . He graduated from Columbia College (now Columbia University ) in 1877 and its law school in 1879. He was admitted to the bar in 1879 and then began practicing in New York City. Politically, he belonged to the Republican Party .

In the congressional elections of 1894 for the 54th Congress was Democrat James J. Walsh in the eighth electoral district of New York in the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC chosen, where he succeeds on March 4, 1895 Edward J. Dunphy took .
