Thomas Joseph Bradley (born January 2, 1870 in New York City , † April 1, 1901 ) was an American lawyer and politician . Between 1897 and 1901 he represented New York State in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Thomas Joseph Bradley was born and raised in New York City about four and a half years after the end of the Civil War . During this time he attended public schools and graduated from City College of New York in 1887 . He taught in public schools in New York City between 1887 and 1891. In 1889 he graduated from the law school of the University of New York in New York City. He was admitted to the bar in 1891 and then began practicing in New York City. Between 1892 and 1895 he was Deputy Assistant to the District Attorney in New York County . Then he worked as a lawyer again.

Politically, he belonged to the Democratic Party . In the congressional elections of 1896 for the 55th Congress he was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC , in the ninth constituency of New York , where he succeeded Henry C. Miner on March 4, 1897 . After a successful re-election, he decided not to run again in 1900 and resigned from Congress on March 3, 1901 .

After his time at Congress, he continued his practice as a lawyer. He died on April 1, 1901 in New York City and was then buried in Calvary Cemetery , Queens .
