Jacob Houck junior

Jacob Houck junior (born January 14, 1801 in Schoharie , New York ; † October 2, 1857 ibid) was an American lawyer and politician . Between 1841 and 1843 he represented New York State in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Jacob Houck junior was born in Schoharie at the beginning of the 19th century and grew up there. He attended community schools and then graduated from Union College in Schenectady in 1822 . Houck studied law , got his license to practice law and then began practicing in Schoharie. Between 1831 and 1836 he was a district attorney in Schoharie County . Politically, he belonged to the Democratic Party . In the congressional elections of 1840 for the 27th Congress , Houck was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the eighth constituency of New York , where he succeeded John Ely and Aaron Vanderpoel , who previously together, on March 4, 1841 represented the eighth district of New York in the US House of Representatives. He retired from the after March 3, 1843 Congress of. After his time at Congress, he worked as a lawyer again. He died on October 2, 1857 in Schonharie and was buried in the Lutheran Cemetery .
