Jacob LeFever

Jacob Le Fever (born April 20, 1830 in New Paltz , New York , † February 4, 1905 there ) was an American politician . Between 1893 and 1897 he represented New York State in the US House of Representatives . Congressman Frank J. Le Fevre was his son.

Career

Jacob Le Fever attended the New Paltz Academy and the Amenia Seminary . He was a town supervisor in 1861 and 1862 . He then sat in the New York State Assembly between 1863 and 1865 and 1867 . Politically, he belonged to the Republican Party . As a delegate he took part in many Republican State Conventions and in 1888 at the Republican National Convention in Chicago .

In the 1892 congressional elections for the 53rd Congress , Le Fever was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC , in the 18th electoral district of New York , where he succeeded John A. Quackenbush on March 4, 1893 . He was re-elected once. Since he on a run again in 1896 renounced, he left the after 3 March 1897 Congress of.

After his time in Congress, he was President of Huguenot National Bank - a position he held until his death. He died on February 4, 1905 in New Paltz and was buried in the New Paltz Rural Cemetery .
