John A. Quackenbush

John Adam Quackenbush (born October 15, 1828 in Schaghticoke , New York , † May 11, 1908 there ) was an American politician . Between 1889 and 1893 he represented New York State in the US House of Representatives .

Career

John Adam Quackenbush attended district schools and the local academy in Stillwater . Then he worked in agriculture, but also pursued lumber business. In 1860 he became a supervisor in Schaghticoke - a position he held until 1862. He served as chairman of the Rensselaer County's Board of Supervisors in 1862 . He was also a member of the New York State Assembly in 1862 . Between 1873 and 1876 he was sheriff in Rensselaer County. Politically, he belonged to the Republican Party .

In the 1888 congressional election for the 51st Congress , Quackenbush was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the 18th electoral district of New York , where he succeeded Edward W.
