This list of castles and palaces in the administrative district of Upper Bavaria is a directory of historical places, such as castles , palaces , mansions , fortresses , moths , castle stables and fortified churches on the territory of today's administrative district of Upper Bavaria, divided into independent cities and districts. The list of castles and palaces in Bavaria is subdivided into further lists for the administrative districts of Lower Bavaria , Upper Palatinate , Upper Franconia , Middle Franconia , Lower Franconia and Swabia . Ornamental and replicas that were never used as residential buildings or for defense are not listed .
