In 1997 Celebrity Cruises Ltd. merged with Royal Caribbean International to become Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd., which operates Celebrity and the Royal Caribbean International line. It's signature "X" on the funnel is Greek for the letter C meaning Chandris. Common features onboard are aft-glass dining rooms, formal foyer areas, alternative restaurants, balcony and suite staterooms, large pools and lounging areas, signature bars and lounges, libraries, elegant spas and gyms, as well as relaxing areas. Celebrity Cruises has ordered four new ships, the Solstice, the Equinox, the Eclipse, and a fourth, still to be named ship. [1] These are to become Celebrity's largest vessels at 117,000 grt, holding 2,850 people each, and measuring 1,033 feet in length, and 121 feet across. They will be delivered in Fall 2008, Summer 2009, Summer 2010, and Fall 2011.
