Pre-Season

Grand Final
Hawthorn defeated West Coast Eagles 20.19 (139) to 13.8 (86). (For an explanation of scoring see Australian rules football).
The Grand Final was played at the Waverley Park because the Melbourne Cricket Ground was at the time undergoing major renovations.
