Her Name Is Nicole is the debut solo album by Nicole Scherzinger of Eden's Crush and the Pussycat Dolls.[2] The album was planned for release on November 6 2007[3] after already being pushed back once, but would be held back once again so it would not coincide with the potential release of Chris Brown and Jay-Z's albums.[4] The current release date in the United States is November 20 2007.[4]
Background
The album will feature production from Akon, Kanye West, Macy Gray, Ne-Yo, Pharrell Williams, Polow Da Don, Sean Garrett, Timbaland, and will.i.am, among others.[2][5] The-Dream, who wrote Rihanna's "Umbrella" and J. Holiday's "Bed", worked with Scherzinger on "Power's Out" which features Sting and will appear on the album.[6][7]
An early leaked song entitled "Steam", produced by Bryan Michael Cox, was speculated to be the first single, but Scherzinger stated that it will not appear on the album.[2]
The album's first single, "Whatever U Like", was released on July 24 2007 in Canada and the United States, and on August 13 2007 in the United Kingdom. The second single "Baby Love", which is produced by and features will.i.am is beginning airplay and was officially released September 10 2007.[8] Both Interscope's and Scherzinger's official websites started referring to "Baby Love" as her first single, leading to media speculation that this was prompted by the poor sales of "Whatever U Like".[9]
