Starting in 2004, Forbes magazine has made a list of the 100 most powerful women in the world. It is edited by editor Elizabeth MacDonald and staff writer Chana R. Schoenberger, and based on visibility and economic impact. For the last three years, Chancellor Angela Merkel of Germany has been ranked as the most powerful woman on Earth.
