Revision as of 12:57, 9 October 2008
It has been suggested that this article be merged into List of HD channels in the UK. (Discuss) Proposed since August 2008. |
The following channels are available and can currently be found on the given channel numbers. Selecting these numbers on a non-HD digibox brings up an information banner displaying a contact telephone number.
The majority of these channels, such as Sky One HD, broadcast the same programmes as the standard definition version, and only use HD for certain programmes.
The launch line-up consisted of Sky One HD, Artsworld HD, Sky Movies 9 HD, Sky Movies 10 HD, Sky Sports HD, Discovery HD, National Geographic Channel HD, Sky Box Office HD 1 and Sky Box Office HD 2.

Future HD Channels
* BSkyB has confirmed that seven new HD channels will be launching on Sky+ HD in the near future[5], it is expected that the new channels will be launched in October 2008[6], with the new channel numbers[7]. It is speculated that the new EPG, which is exclusive to Sky+ HD, will be launched along side the seven new channels, although this hasn't be confirmed as of September 23rd 2008.Future developments
Increase in HD channels
In the two years since launch, the number of HD channels available has more than doubled from 9 to 22 and is expected to grow to 30 in the coming year, making Sky+ HD the world’s largest HD offering outside North America.[8] Further channels will be announced before the end of 2008.
However, this expansion of channels did not include ITV HD at launch, as the service will initially be exclusive to Freesat.[9]
