(15278) Paquet is an asteroid of the main belt , the August 6, 1991 by the Belgian astronomer Eric Walter Elst at the European Southern Observatory in Chile was discovered.
It was named on May 1, 2003 in honor of the Belgian astronomer Paul Pâquet (* 1937), who headed the “Royal Belgian Observatory” ( Observatoire royal de Belgique ) in Uccle from 1990 to 2002 .
