(1752) van Herk is an asteroid of the main belt that was discovered on September 16, 1930 by the Dutch astronomer Hendrik van Gent in Johannesburg .
The asteroid was named after the Dutch astronomer Gijsbert van Herk , who wrote the history of the Leiden observatory with two colleagues .
