(20193) Yakushima is an asteroid of the main belt , which on 18 January 1997 by Japanese amateur astronomers Naoto Satō at his private observatory ( IAU code 369) in Chichibu in Saitama Prefecture was discovered.

The asteroid on 12 October 2011 after the in named Kagoshima Prefecture located Ōsumi Island Yakushima , the Japanese cedar forest in the 1993 list of World Natural Heritage of the UNESCO was taken. On July 22nd, 2009, the first total solar eclipse in Japan in 46 years was observed on the island .
