(2051) Chang ( 1976 UC ; 1928 TC , 1935 DD , 1959 EF ; 1966 QN , 1971 TA 3 , 1971 YH ; 1973 AG 2 ; 1974 HT 1 , 1975 NO ) is an asteroid of the main belt , on 23 October 1976 was discovered by Harvard College Observatory ( Harvard University Observatory in Cambridge, Massachusetts ) at Oak Ridge Observatory . Its discoverers were Richard Eugene McCrosky , Cheng-yuan Shao , G. Schwartz and JH Bulger , who were also supported by others.
designation
The asteroid was named after Yu-che Chang (1902-1986), who was a senior astronomer in the People's Republic of China and who had been director of the Observatory on the Purple Mountain since 1950 . From 1927 to 1929 he worked at the Yerkes Observatory .
