(20961) Arkesilaos is an asteroid belonging to the group of Jupiter Trojans . This describes asteroids that move around the sun on the Lagrange points on Jupiter's orbit .
(20961) Arkesilaos was discovered on September 19, 1973 by the Dutch astronomer couple Cornelis Johannes van Houten and Ingrid van Houten-Groeneveld . The discovery came about during the investigation of Tom Gehrels ' field plates recorded with the 120 cm Oschin Schmidt telescope of the Palomar observatory ( IAU code 675) at the University of Leiden .
