(2128) Wetherill is an asteroid of the main belt , which from the September 26, 1973 American US astronomer Eleanor Helin at Palomar Observatory ( IAU code 675) on the top of Palomar Mountain in California was discovered.
The asteroid was named after the American geophysicist and astronomer George Wetherill (1925-2006), who developed methods for determining the age of rocks from the ratio of radioactive isotopes and their decay products and who studied the formation and development of planetary systems.
