(24916) Stelzhamer is an asteroid of the main belt that was discovered on March 7, 1997 by the Austrian amateur astronomer Erich Meyer at the Davidschlag observatory ( IAU code 540) near Linz in Austria .
The asteroid was named on January 6, 2003 after the Austrian poet and novelist Franz Stelzhamer (1802–1874), who is considered the most important representative of Upper Austrian dialect poetry and the lyricist of the Upper Austrian national anthem , the Hoamatgsang .
