(29246) Clausius is an asteroid of the main belt that was discovered on September 2, 1992 by the German astronomers Freimut Börngen and Lutz D. Schmadel at the Thuringian State Observatory Tautenburg ( IAU code 033) in Thuringia .

The asteroid was named after the German physicist Rudolf Clausius (1822–1888), who is considered to be the discoverer of the second law of thermodynamics .
