(3220) Murayama is an asteroid of the main belt , which on 22 November 1951 by the French astronomer Marguerite Laugier at Nice was discovered. It is named after the Mars observer, meteorite expert and director of the National Museum of Natural Sciences Sadao Murayama.
Measurements of light curves of the asteroid led to the suspicion that this could be a double asteroid system. According to this, the asteroid would be orbited by a companion in around 13.14 hours. The ratio of the diameters of both bodies is estimated to be 0.4.
