(44263) Nansouty is an asteroid of the main belt that was discovered on August 28, 1998 by the French amateur astronomers Philippe Dupouy and Frédéric Maréchal at the observatory ( IAU code 958) in Dax in the land of the Aquitaine region .
The asteroid was named on August 6, 2009 after the French general and meteorologist Charles-Marie-Étienne Champion Dubois de Nansouty (1815–1895), who co-founded the Pic du Midi de Bigorre .
