(4570) Runcorn is an asteroid of the main belt , which on 14 August 1985 by the American astronomer Edward LG Bowell at the Anderson Mesa Station ( IAU code 688) of the Lowell Observatory in Coconino County was discovered.
The asteroid was named after the British geophysicist Keith Runcorn (1922-1995), who researched the paleomagnetic properties of rocks and from 1956 to 1988 held the chair of physics at the University of Newcastle .
