(4809) Robertball is an asteroid of the main belt that was discovered on September 5, 1928 by the German astronomer Max Wolf at the State Observatory Heidelberg-Königstuhl ( IAU code 024) near Heidelberg .
The asteroid was named on November 26, 2004 after the Irish astronomer, mathematician and author of popular science books Robert Stawell Ball (1840-1913).
