(48681) Zeilinger is an asteroid located in the main belt that was discovered on January 21, 1996 by the Austrian amateur astronomers E. Meyer and E. Obermair at the Davidschlag observatory ( IAU code 540, near Linz ).
The asteroid was on 7 April 2005 after the quantum physicist and university professor at the University of Vienna Anton Zeilinger named (* 1945), which is the Institute of Experimental Physics since 1999 University Professor at the University of Vienna and the Executive Board.
