(5023) Agapenor is an asteroid belonging to the group of Jupiter Trojans . This describes asteroids that move around the sun on the Lagrange points on Jupiter's orbit . (5023) Agapenor was discovered by CS Shoemaker on October 11, 1985 at the Palomar Observatory . It is assigned to the Lagrangian point L 4 .

The asteroid is named after the mythological figure Agapenor , the leader of the Arcadians in the Trojan War .
