(5054) Wedge is an asteroid of the main belt , which on 12 January 1986 by the American astronomer Edward LG Bowell at the Anderson Mesa Station ( IAU code 688) of the Lowell Observatory in Coconino County was discovered.

The asteroid was named after the German - American mineralogist Klaus Keil (* 1934), who headed the NASA cosmochemistry department between 1963 and 1968 and contributed to a better understanding of the composition of asteroids through his spectral analyzes of almost all types of meteorites .
