(5184) Cavaillé-Coll is an asteroid of the main belt , the August 16, 1990 by the Belgian astronomer Eric Walter Elst at the La Silla Observatory ( observatory code 809) of the European Southern Observatory in Chile was discovered.

The asteroid is named after the French organ builder , acoustician , scientist and inventor Aristide Cavaillé-Coll (1811–1899), whose most famous works represent the organs of Saint-Sulpice and Notre-Dame de Paris .
