(6220) Stepanmakarov is an asteroid of the main belt that was discovered on September 26, 1978 by the Ukrainian-Soviet astronomer Lyudmyla Vasylivna Shuravlowa at the Crimean Observatory in Nauchnyj ( IAU code 095).
The asteroid was named after the Russian admiral , oceanographer , polar explorer and writer Stepan Ossipowitsch Makarow (1849-1904).
