The museum in progress is a private, non-profit art association based in Vienna . The initiative was founded in 1990 by Kathrin Messner and Josef Ortner († 2009) with the aim of developing new forms of presentation for contemporary art. Projects are implemented on the basis of cooperation between business, art and media.
Exhibition activity
The exhibition activities focus on media and public spaces. For example, newspapers, magazines, billboards, building facades, television and the Internet are used. The works of art exhibited by museum in progress are media-specific, context-dependent and temporary.
Through the work of the association, the distance between everyday reality and the art location is overcome and a far larger audience is reached than by traditional museum institutions.
