(7056) Kierkegaard is an asteroid of the main belt , the September 26, 1989 by the Belgian astronomer Eric Walter Elst at the La Silla Observatory ( observatory code 809) of the European Southern Observatory in Chile was discovered.

The asteroid is named after the Danish philosopher , essayist , theologian and religious writer Søren Kierkegaard (1813–1855), who is widely regarded as a pioneer of existential philosophy or even as its first representative.
