(754) Malabar is an asteroid of the main belt , which was discovered on August 22, 1906 by the German astronomer August Kopff in Heidelberg .

The asteroid was named after the Indonesian city ​​of Malabar on West Java . This happened in memory of a Dutch-German expedition to Christmas Island to observe the solar eclipse in 1922.
