(8030) William Knight is an asteroid of the main belt , which on 29 September 1991 by the British - Australian astronomer Robert McNaught at the Siding Spring Observatory ( IAU code was discovered 413) in Australia.
The celestial body is named after William John Knight (1929-2004), who in 1967 set up the world speed record for manned aircraft that is still valid today at 7,274 km / h as a test pilot of the X-15 .
