(8738) Saji is an asteroid of the main belt , which on January 5, 1997 by astronomers of Saji observatory in Tottori ( IAU code 867) in the Japanese prefecture of Tottori was discovered.
The asteroid was named on February 2, 1999, the Saji Observatory where it was discovered.
