(9562) Memling is an asteroid of the main belt , which on 19 September 1987 by the Belgian astronomer Eric Walter Elst at the La Silla Observatory ( IAU code 809) of the European Southern Observatory in Chile was discovered.
The asteroid belongs to the Themis family, a group of asteroids named after (24) Themis . The timeless (non- osculating ) orbital elements of (9562) Memling are almost identical to those of three other asteroids: (114761) 2003 HN 47 , (250812) 2005 UA 54 , (255019) Fleurmaxwell and 2015 BQ 437 .
(9562) Memling was named after the German painter of the Dutch school Hans Memling (~ 1433–1494).
