(960) Birgit is an asteroid of the main belt that was discovered on October 1, 1921 by the German astronomer Karl Wilhelm Reinmuth in Heidelberg .
The asteroid is named after the daughter of the same name of the Swedish astronomer Bror Ansgar Asplind .
