(9621) Michaelpalin is an asteroid of the main belt , which on 21 March 1993, following the Uppsala-ESO Survey of Asteroids and Comets on La Silla Observatory ( IAU code 809) of the European Southern Observatory in Chile was discovered.

The asteroid was named on March 20, 2000 after the English actor , author , singer , travel journalist and former President of the Royal Geographical Society Michael Palin (* 1943), who became famous as a member of the British comedian group Monty Python .
