The Água Vermelha reservoir is a reservoir with a hydropower plant on the Rio Grande in Brazil . The dam is located on the border between the states of Minas Gerais and São Paulo , with the main facilities in the Minas Gerais area. The reservoir is located on the Rio Grande above the Tres Lagoas reservoir and south of the São Simão reservoir on the Paranaíba river.

The barrier structure consists of a dam combined with an earth embankment . It stands 80 km above the confluence of the Rio Grande and the Rio Paranaíba to the Rio Paraná .

The hydropower plant supplies large parts of the southwest of Brazil with electricity. The current is conducted to Araraquara, Ribeirão Preto and Santa Bárbara d'Oeste. The first machine went online in August 1978. During operation, the water level of the reservoir fluctuates between 383.30 and 373.30 meters above sea level.
