Assin South District is one of 13 districts in the Central Region of Ghana . It borders the districts of Assin North , Twifo / Heman / Lower Denkyira , Upper Denkyira , Asikuma / Odoben / Brakwa , Ajumako / Enyan / Essiam , Mfantsiman and Abura / Asebu / Kwamankese in the Central Region. The district's chief executive is Millicent A. Kuranchie .

The Assin South was only founded in 2004 by decree of November 12, 2003 by President John Agyekum Kufuor from the former district of Assin . The Assin North District also emerged from this former district .

population

There are six traditional Paramount Chief's areas in the district in Asankare, Asuboa, Bompata, Gyadam, Obogu and Ofoase.

Constituencies

A constituency of the same name was set up in the Assin South district. In the constituency of Assin South, Prof. Dominic Fobih , Minister for Education, Sport and Science in Ghana, won a seat in the Ghanaian parliament for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the 2004 general election.
