Assin North District is one of 13 districts in the Central Region of Ghana . It borders on the districts of Assin South , Twifo / Heman / Lower Denkyira , Upper Denkyira and Asikuma / Odoben / Brakwa in the Central Region. The district also borders the Eastern Region with the Birim South District and the Ashanti Region with the Adansi South District . Chief Executive of the district is Kwabena Karikari-Appau in the capital Assin Fosso .

The Assin North was only founded in 2004 by decree of November 12, 2003 by President John Agyekum Kufuor from the former district of Assin . The Assin South District also emerged from this former district .

Constituencies

A constituency of the same name was set up in the Assin North district. In the constituency of Assin North, Ken Ohene Agyapong won a seat in the Ghanaian parliament for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the 2004 general election.
