Álvaro García , full name Álvaro Marcelo García Zaroba (born January 13, 1984 in Rocha , Uruguay ) is a Uruguayan football player .

The 1.80 meter tall goalkeeper began his career in 2003 at the then second division Rocha Fútbol Club . There it was used at least six times in the 2003 Apertura . At the end of the season, his club rose to the Primera División . After winning the Torneo Apertura in 2005 in the first season after switching to the European league mode and after the two final defeats against Nacional , in which García guarded the goal, just missed the title in the Uruguayan championship, García played for the until 2007 Club in Eastern Uruguay. Due to the qualification for the Copa Libertadores due to the strong 2005/06 season , he also took part there with his club. When at the end of the 2006/07 season the gang had to be started back in the second division, García left the club and joined River Plate Montevideo . After a stopover in northern Uruguay at Tacuarembó FC in Clausura and Apertura of the year 2009 (seven appearances in the 2009 Apertura), his path led him to San Carlos to the Club Atlético Atenas . There he played 15 league games in the Clausura 2010.
In Clausura 2011 and Apertura 2012 he completed a total of four first division matches for the Paraguayan club Tacuary . For the 2012/13 season he joined Cerro Largo FC in northeast Uruguay. In the Apertura 2012 he only ran once when he represented goalkeeper Martín Campaña in the match against Liverpool FC . He was also used in two games of the Copa Sudamericana . From Clausura 2013 he was after Campañas move to Defensor the new goalkeeper of the Uruguayan club and thus completed a total of 15 or 16 top division games in the 2012/13 season, depending on the sources. In 2013/14 ten more first division appearances for the club from Melo were added. After relegation from the Primera División at the end of the season, he moved on to second division Rocha FC in August 2014. In his second career with the Southeast Uruguayans, he played in 14 second division games in the Apertura 2014. In January 2015 he moved back to the top Uruguayan league and continued his career with three more first division appearances in the 2015 Clausura at El Tanque Sisley . In June 2015 he joined the Apertura 2015 Deportivo Guastatoya from Guatemala . There he completed 49 first division matches including his last assignment on May 8, 2016. He then continued his career at Cobán Imperial . So far (as of March 3, 2017) he has played in 29 league games at this station.

García was a member of Roland Marcenaro 's U-23 team in Uruguay at least in June 2007 .
