Career

society

According to his club, the 1.87 meter tall goalkeeper began his career in 2005 in the reserve team ( Formativas ) of Defensor Sporting . In the 2006/07 season he played for the then second division club Deportivo Maldonado . He then moved to neighboring San Carlos and joined the league rivals Atenas for the 2007/08 season . This was followed by a first stop at Cerro Largo FC, starting in 2008 . In his first season he came there to eight appearances in the Primera División . His club finished twelfth in the overall final table. The second season, in which he played 24 first division games, ended for Cerro Largo with relegation. Campaña himself held the class, however, as he was loaned to the Montevidean first division club Racing in the 2010/11 season . He returned to the northeast of Uruguay after the immediate resurgence of Cerro Largos in 2012 and, as his club's regular goalkeeper, finished fourth in the final table with this club in the following season. Campaña is also in the Cerro Largos squad in the 2012/13 season and played 14 times in the 2012 Apertura . Substitute goalkeeper Alvaro Marcelo García replaced him only in the match against Liverpool FC . For Clausura, the Montevidean returned on loan for six months to league rivals Defensor Sporting, the starting point of his career. There he was finally able to prevail against Yonatan Irrazábal and completed up to eleven second round matches and the championship finals. In doing so, he contributed to Defensor’s victory in the 2013 Clausura and was ultimately runner-up. Also in the 2013/14 season he was in 26 league games in goal for the Montevideans. In the Copa Libertadores 2014 , in which his club failed only in the semi-finals, he guarded the gate twelve times. In the 2014/15 season he was used in 29 top division games. During Apertura 2015 he was used in 15 other Primera División games. In January 2016 it Defensor borrowed for 18 months with option to purchase ($ 800,000 for 80 percent of the transfer rights) to the Argentinian club CA Independiente made, for which he 40 times in the league and four in the Copa Argentina and six times in the Copa Sudamericana aground .

After the 18 months, the purchase option for Campaña was drawn. Since then, he has played 13 league games and several games in the Copa Libertadores , Copa Sudamericana and Recopa Sudamericana competitions .

Since his debut on April 25, 2012, he has guarded the Celeste goal six times for the Olympic selection.

In November 2014, he was called up to replace the injured Rodrigo Muñoz for the first time for the international friendlies against Costa Rica and Chile in the senior national team.
