The Roman Catholic parish church in Döbriach in the Austrian municipality of Radenthein (Carinthia) is consecrated to St. Giles . It was first mentioned in 1448. Döbriach was made a parish in 1786, previously it was subordinate to the Molzbichl parish as vicariate .

Building description

The church is a medium-sized building from the second half of the 15th century, the nave and tower of which have been redesigned in Baroque style . On einjochigen choir with five-eighth final three windows in the south wall with its late Gothic tracery received. On the south side of the church there is a three-tiered buttress between the choir and the nave . The tower on the north side with late Gothic pointed arch windows as sound openings is crowned by a baroque onion helmet. One bell was cast by Mert von Friesach in 1471 and a second was built before 1400. The late Gothic west portal is protected by a baroque porch on pillars.

Inside, a pointed triumphal arch with beveled walls connects the nave and the choir. The nave has a baroque flat ceiling. A star rib vault rises above the choir on semicircular services with a capital ring . The keystones have painted coats of arms. In the vaulted areas are stars and tendril paintings from the 16th century.

Facility

The high altar from 1659, framed in brown and gold, is a two-storey triumphal arch altar adorned with cartilage with a blown segment gable and a small aedicula with blown triangular segment and side figures under canopy arches as an attachment. The central image of St. Aegidius is flanked by the carved figures of the princes of the apostles Peter and Paul . The top picture shows the coronation of Mary , the side figures depict the saints Catherine and Barbara .

The two side altars date from the first quarter of the 18th century. On the right altar there is a small Gothic wooden relief of the Fourteen Holy Helpers from the end of the 15th century. On the northern wall of the choir there is a console figure of St. Aegidius from the 15th century, in the nave there are sculptures of the Man of Sorrows and the Virgin Mary from around 1700 . The pulpit from the third quarter of the 17th century shows the half-length representations of the four evangelists in the balustrade of the basket . The white marble baptismal font in the choir was built in 1479. On the gallery parapet, there is a folk Baroque image of St. George's dragon fight .
