history

At the beginning of the 19th century, a spiritual renewal movement arose in Geneva. This movement led to clashes in the Geneva church and resulted in the dismissal of several pastors. These initially founded independent communities that merged to form the EELG in 1849. During the Second World War , efforts were made to reunite the free church and the regional church, but the project was canceled in 1951. In addition to the four original parishes in 1978 and 1994, another was added, so that the EELG currently consists of six local parishes. The seventh is the municipality of Sel de la Terre .
