The Evangelical Reformed Church of the Canton of Lucerne is the Reformed Church in the Canton of Lucerne . She is a member of the Evangelical Reformed Church in Switzerland .

Law

According to Art. 79 f. According to the cantonal constitution of June 17, 2007, the Evangelical Reformed Church of the Canton of Lucerne is a corporation under cantonal public law .

Organization, voting and election rights, personnel law and the setting of church taxes are carried out autonomously through church decrees. The church constitution currently in force dates from December 6, 2015, the church ordinance from November 13, 1996.

Parishes

The Lucerne Church consists of ten parishes. The executive body is the church council, the legislative body is the parish assembly, which usually takes place twice a year. The parish of Lucerne, which consists of eight parishes, is specially organized. It has its own church parliament, the Grand Council of Churches.

Regional church

The synod (church parliament) is the legislative organ of the regional church. It has 60 members who are elected by the church people. The synod in turn elects the synodal council, which manages the affairs of the regional church and is responsible for the implementation of the resolutions. The Lucerne Synodal Council has five members and is chaired by Ursula Stämmer-Horst.

history

The Reformation could not gain a foothold in central Switzerland; In 1522 the Reformed were expelled or executed. A first Reformed service did not take place again until 1798. The Reformed parish of Lucerne, which was still organized under private law at the time, was founded in 1827. A second community was established in Willisau in 1886 ; little churches follow in Sursee , Schüpfheim and Wolhusen .

The Evangelical Reformed Church of the Canton of Lucerne under public law was founded in 1969, at the same time as the Catholic Church in the Canton of Lucerne .
