Éric Rochat (politician)

Éric Rochat (born March 28, 1948 in Gland , resident in L'Abbaye and Le Lieu ) is a Swiss politician ( LPS ).

biography

Rochat studied medicine and received a doctorate . Most recently he worked as a general practitioner .

He held his first political office from 1990 to 1995 as the Grand Councilor of the Canton of Vaud . There he was also parliamentary group leader of the liberal group. From 1994 to 1995 he was a local councilor . In the Swiss parliamentary elections in 1995 he was elected to the Council of States . In the following parliamentary elections in 1999, however, he was narrowly defeated by Michel Béguelin from the SP; the deficit was just 50 votes. As a result, he resigned from parliament on December 5, 1999.

Rochat was also President of the Vaudois Medical Association from 1982 to 1984, and President of the Medical Association of Western Switzerland from 1986 to 1988 . He is also President of the Musée Suisse appareil photographique (Swiss Camera Museum ) in Vevey.

Rochat is married and has one child. He was a soldier in the Swiss Army .
