The Öchsle cycle path is a cycle route in the Biberach district . It leads over 19 km from Warthausen to Ochsenhausen . For the most part, the route is based on the Öchsle Railway , and the bike path and rails often run parallel.

course

In Warthausen, the cycle path begins at the train station. It leads along the rails to Herrlishöfen , where the rails are crossed by an underpass. Here the route and the path separate for the first time. The cycle path is based on Landesstraße 267 and remains north of the Öchsle-Bahn. Barabein can be reached via a slight ascent . After the location, the sides will be changed at an unrestricted level crossing and rails, bike path and L267 run parallel. Shortly before Äpfingen everything falls apart again. The cyclist is guided through the village and arrives over a mountain to Sulmingen . On the mountain you can see the rails again and there is a beautiful scene when the Öchsle comes by here. The narrow-gauge railway now makes a bend from east-west to south-east and only touches Sulmingen on the edge. The cycle path follows the road to the town center and from here along the K 7527 to Maselheim. There the path leads to Dürnach and along its banks to Wennedach . Behind a hill the route appears again in the southwest, which is most likely to be noticed by the steaming locomotive. It then goes steeply up to Wennedach and into the middle of the village. The path branches off to the left here, to the highest point of the route: it is almost 600  m above sea level. NN reached. On the plateau between Rottum and Dürnach it goes to Reinstetten , which is reached by a steep descent. At the end of the village, the cycle path and the railway line meet again and run parallel in the Rottum valley. Before Goppertshofen the cycle path turns again and towards the Rottum. The path to Ochsenhausen leads along this. After a short time, cyclists and trains reach the Ochsenhausen train station and the end point of the Öchsle cycle path.
